Being a parent in The Village family is a commitment and valuable partnership.
There is overwhelming research that shows that family engagement in schools improves student achievement, reduces absenteeism, and restores parents' confidence in their children's education. Students with involved parents or other caregivers earn higher grades and test scores, have better social skills, and show improved behavior.
Parent support at The Village will help parents form the habit of involvement in their child’s classroom, which should occur throughout the child’s educational career. Children will also feel a sense of pride and community when they recognize their parent’s involvement.
Village building is a key part of our program at The Village Child Development Center. This is where we join our community in education and service initiatives that will help empower our students. From simple conversations to old-fashioned letter writing campaigns, this portion of our program seeks to join the Village people with those around them so that all feel valued and learn to model the traits of a good village member.
